Version 1.6 released!

LoFi Main Line is a pixelated imagining of the East Coast Main Line ca. 1980. This is a toy. There are no points, no puzzles, no objectives, or obstacles. Just sit back, have a beverage of your choice, and watch the trains go by.

This project is inspired by a trip to England in 2018, and several nights spent relaxing in the beer garden at York station. I started this project to build my skill set, and for my own edification.

Features:

  • Pixel art rolling stock including:
    • Class 08, 20, 25, 31, 37, 43, 45, 47, and 55 locomotives
    • LMS Patriot and BR 9F steam specials
    • Class 101, and 105 DMUs
    • Mk1, Mk2, and Mk3 coaches
    • Assorted freight wagons.
  • Stopping services and HST services.
  • Multiple stations and skies.
  • Weather and lighting effects.
  • Walkable platforms.
  • Platform plying pixelated people.
  • Train spotting mode - type along with the engine number.
  • Adjustable train frequency.
  • Shoo pigeons!
  • Pick up trash!
  • Interact with the locals!

i love this game! you dont update still or just take a while to update this? also i like the 2 numbers appearing when 2 trains go over please add a randomly generated option that brings back random trains

bugs: controls gone when click outside of the game. esc stops game but might just be a itch.io thing

Thank you! I'm glad you like it! It is still being developed, mostly I'm working on content now. No ETA on when the next update will be, but it'll be big! Thanks for the feedback, no one's picked up on that before (including me); I'll add it to the to-do list.

I adore this game!! Is development continuing?

Hi there, I'm glad you like it! And apologies for the delay in responding; life, etc. Development is slowly continuing. I've had to take a break over the summer to work elsewhere, but I do have a roadmap for things I'd like to add and improve.  I have plans to add more content in the future. In terms of features, it's mostly done as is. I do have a laundry list of things to fix, and I would like to make a paid version which will only differ in that it'll have extra, ancillary features; nothing that wouldn't be missed from the current free version.

a paid version?

Purely as an optional, with nothing that would be missed from the free.

I really enjoy this ambience, Are you going to make it downloadable?

Thank you! I am planning a downloadable version in the future. No timeline on it yet, but it is coming.

I really like this idea as I found it relaxing to stay on the railway stations.

I really like the old school feeling and stereo sound effects.

Thanks! I appreciate you saying that; it's just what I intended it for!

I was too stupid to log in before I sent my support, so cheers! Love the game. Have a drink on me!
