This Train now Terminates

When I started working on LoFi MainLine, some four years ago, it was done to accomplish three goals. The first was to create, or recreate the experience that I was chasing. The second goal was to learn Godot, and the third was to get into game design. All those have been accomplished, and more. However, being "the first project" means that it was built on a lot of bad practices, bad habits, and bad designs. I've grown a lot as developer in those four years, and the scope of this project has grown too. We've now reached a point where the architecture of LFML is holding it back. There's a lot more I'd like to do, a lot of improvements I'd like to make, and a lot of content I'd like to add, but I'm hamstrung by the foundation I laid out. From there, I have good news and bad news.

The bad news: I am stopping development on LFML. Mostly. I do have one more update that will be coming out. This will largely be a content update. Aside from that, this project has reached the end of it's lifespan.

The good news: I am starting development on LFML2. Yes, a sequel. I don't fully know what form that will take yet, and details probably won't be forthcoming until I have something to show. I will say the art style probably isn't going away, and it will probably involve 3D to some degree. I couldn't possibly give a release date at this time, but work will begin in the new year. In the meantime, and going forward, LoFi MainLine will continue to be available here, even after the sequel is released. Stay tuned for further details.
